We already know the Koch brothers are willing to spend at least $400 million dollars to "advance freedom and prosperity" as it relates to next month's election, and now we get a glimpse of how the billionaires are directing their employees to vote for Mitt Romney. In a letter as part of a packet sent to all 45,000 employees of Georgia Pacific and obtained by In These Times, Koch Industries' president and CIO Dave Robertson describes what will happen if Obama's "cronies" and "unprecedented regulatory burdens" are given four more years: "many of our more than 50,000 U.S. employees and contractors may suffer the consequences, including higher gasoline prices, runaway inflation, and other ills."
"Other ills" likely means "being submerged in a lake of fire while being pierced through the larynx by the poison-tipped bone trident of Nergal the Execrable." Elsewhere in the packet is a Wall Street Journal editorial penned by Charles Koch last month which complains about "subsidizing favored products and industries" (and oh yes: rich people)and a NY Post editorial endorsing Romney by David Koch.
Inexplicably there is also a recipe for Hobo Heart Pie that calls for "sixteen hobo hearts, three kittens (calico), and 1 lock of hair from a union boss."
But lest you think the Kochs are trying to intimidate their employees, there is a disclaimer in the packet:
“We believe any decision about which candidates to support is—as always—yours and yours alone, based on the factors that are most important to you. Second, we do not support candidates based on their political affiliation.”
In the packet obtained by In These Times for employees in Oregon, all of the candidates endorsed by the Koch brothers are Republicans [PDF].
