Remember when Johan Santana pitched the first no-hitter in Mets' history in June? And how one huge fan wearing JORTS (denim jean shorts) and a Gary Carter jersey ran onto the field during the hugs? Well, that super-fan, Rafael Diaz, has been banned from CitiField FOR LIFE (thanks a lot, Calvin Klein!)—and now he's been sentenced to 100 hours of community service and a $5,000 fine.
Diaz pleaded guilty to interfering with a professional sporting event. Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said, “The defendant’s antics have resulted in a criminal record, the paying of thousands of dollars in fines and civil penalties, and—perhaps the worse punishment for any true Mets fan—precludes him from ever again visiting Citi Field. He has now learned the hard way that the Queens District Attorney’s Office and the New York Mets have zero tolerance for those who interfere with the play of America’s pastime.”
Now we wonder if the community service is cleaning up the grounds outside of Yankee Stadium. Eh, let's just watch Jorts Guy again! (Go to :40)
