Two employees at John F. Kennedy Airport were arrested and charged with grand larceny yesterday after allegedly stealing 12 pairs of unreleased Kevin Durant Nike sneakers, then attempting to sell them on Instagram.

According to prosecutors in Queens, 23-year-old Calvin Colan Nelson and 47-year-old Audley Russell, stole a box of KD8 sneakers off an Air China flight on May 9th, while the shipment was switching planes en route from Taiwan to Ontario. The sneakers, named after someone I am told is a basketball player, are about $200 a pair, and aren't supposed to go on sale until July.

Nelson and Russell are accused of posting pictures of the shoes online and attempting to sell them. Police were able to track the duo down through the account, since the the stolen box and serial number were visible in photographs.

In addition to the Kevin Durant sneaker theft, two cargo warehouse workers at JFK were arrested over the weekend for allegedly stealing about $90,000 worth of electronics. Those suspects, Kason Alexander and Akanni Martin, were caught after police spotted Alexander urinating on a Brooklyn sidewalk.
