New York Jets defensive lineman Quinnen Williams was arrested on Thursday night for allegedly bringing a handgun through LaGuardia Airport.

Williams, 22, attempted to bring a Glock 19 pistol through the Delta terminal security at around 9 p.m. last night, according to a Port Authority spokesperson. The gun, which was properly registered in the state of Alabama, was not loaded.

He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, a felony in New York. An attorney for the Williams said in a statement that his client was arrested over a "technical issue," and the matter would be resolved shortly.

The Queens District Attorney is handling the case.

The 6-foot-3, 303 pounds Alabama graduate was the No. 3 pick in last year's draft, making him the highest-drafted defensive player in Jets history. He signed a $32.5 million, four-year contract with the Jets, which included a $21.7 million signing bonus.

Bless him.
