Yesterday, the Jets beat the Giants 10-7 in their pre-season meeting (and only meeting until, if they are lucky, the post-season). The new defensive line was great in stopping the Giants, but it wasn't all great news for Gang Green: The Jets' offensive line had many penalties, leading the Daily News to proclaim, "Brett Favre, Jets' offense take step back in sluggish performance."

However, Brett Favre told reporters he's ready for the regular season, "I felt more at ease in the huddle, I felt more at ease on the field and I felt more like myself, " while acknowledging the issues, "We had some big plays; unfortunately they were called back. All we have to do is watch the film to see that we have a lot of potential. But you can't win making those types of mistakes."

As for the Giants, besides their offense not getting through, the worst news is that defensive end Osi Umenyiora injured his left knee during the second quarter. He was trying to rush Favre when the Jets tackle D'Brickashaw Ferguson pushed him. While a X-rays were negative, he will be getting an MRI today. The Giants' Justin Tuck said, "It was very hard. Especially a guy like Osi. He definitely means a lot to this team and franchise. Anytime a guy like that goes down, it definitely hits you right in the throat."
