It seems like just yesterday we were all freaking out about/enjoying the unseasonably warm February weather. Well, the time to pay the piper has come, as the National Weather Service has now issued a winter weather advisory starting tonight and running through 2 p.m. tomorrow. It is, as of this writing, 61 degrees in Brooklyn.

As much as three to five inches could fall throughout the region. And in a particularly awesome twist, the alert says that most of the snow is expected to fall most heavily during your morning commute. Remember to do violence, physical or emotional, to whoever greets you in the office after you've fought through the snow by screaming, "At least it's Friday!"

Our weather forecast also says the weekend will be cold and miserable. This (last?) deep freeze of the season is a good time to give to groups like Coalition for the Homeless, the New York City Rescue Mission and CAMBA, who all help homeless individuals and families.
