Maybe Mother Nature wants Macy's to bring the fireworks back to the East River, too? Because in addition to the start of the third heat wave of the summer, this Independence Day the weather looks to be bringing some storms along for the ride. But don't worry, things will go boom rain or shine!
Macy's organizers say that the fireworks will happen no matter what—though they may be delayed if lighting rolls by. But only delayed. If the lighting does show up, it isn't expected to last for long.
Meanwhile, forecasts for today call lots of heat (highs over 90° that will feel even hotter), lots of humidity and for scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. How hot? The National Weather Service has put the city under heat advisory for the day—so stay cool out there!
