A tenth grader is in critical condition after a driver slashed him in the Bronx yesterday. The Daily News reports, "Gabriel Quinones was at a Throgs Neck bus stop on his way to school when he plunked his bag on the hood of a gray BMW parked on Hutchinson River Parkway East." The driver freaked out and yelled at Quinones, who talked back. Then "the driver pulled a knife and stabbed him once in the chest and slashed him five to six times on the face and neck." A witness gave the police the driver's license plate number, which led them to Kwame Ferguson of the Bronx; Ferguson said he would turn himself in. The police source told the News, "To do this to a kid, over something so minor - the kid is lucky to be alive."
