How coincidental! On the day that the NYPD was registering iPhones and other electronic devices as part of its "anti-Apple picking" campaign, plain clothes police officers arrested a man who stole an iPhone from a cop in a decoy operation!

According to the police, officers were conducting the sting around 3:40 p.m. on the Lexington Avenue line: They entered a crowded southbound 6 train at 51st Street and they saw a man "reach into the backpack of the decoy officer and remove an Apple I-Phone." The thief left the train at 42nd Street/Grand Central station, where he was arrested. Khomali Vinson was charged with grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.
