A man has been arrested for stabbing his wife numerous times after she reportedly refused to have sex with him.
According to police, the incident happened around 4:20 a.m. this past Tuesday in East New York. Suspect Upali Pelige, 40, was in an apartment building on Wortman Avenue, believed to be his wife's home, when he stabbed her in the face, neck, head and body. She was taken to Brookdale Hospital and placed in a medically-induced coma. The NYPD says she is expected to survive the attack.
Anonymous law enforcement sources tell the Daily News that the victim, whose name has not been released, was stabbed after refusing to have sex with Pelige, a Staten Island resident. The News adds that the two have been married for only eight months but live apart.
