It looks like now that the New York State Legislature has overridden Govenor Pataki's veto of the budget and New York City aid, they have found some teeth on other issues. The Daily News reports today that two Brooklyn legislators have introduced bills to counteract the State's impending draconian smoking ban.

Meanwhile, on the other coast, California Governor Gray Davis is being threatened with a recall vote for sins that seem no worse than those of our own beloved Governor. A Gothamist friend who lives in that state reports that Governor Davis' political career is over. Of course the crazies are after him, but apparently the petition for recall was being circulated at Passover seder. A bunch of Jews in California trying to remove an elected Democrat from office: just one more sign of the impending apocalypse.
