A sonogram technician at Staten Island's Richmond University Medical Center has been charged with raping a female patient while she was on a prescription drug similar to morphine. Kenrussell Salvador, 33, is accused of raping a 30-year-old woman while giving her a sonogram.

The woman — who went to the medical facility seeking treatment for upper-abdominal pains — reportedly told Salvador to stop, though according to court documents she was legally incapable of giving consent at the time of the attack because she was on Dilaudid. The rape allegedly occurred in a first-floor room at around 10:30 pm while the suspect and the victim were alone, the Post reports.

After the victim alerted authorities, Salvadore told hospital investigators he had masturbated in the room earlier in the day. Police doubted his story, arrested him, and charged him with two felony counts of third-degree rape. Investigators did not seek more severe charges because he "is not accused of using force," the Advance reports. If convicted, Salvadore — who no longer works at the medical center — could face between 16 months and four years in prison.
