Still embroiled in a decades-old sex scandal, the private Horace Mann School reportedly has banned the registered sex offender father of a student from campus, sending his status out in a school-wide email last spring.
The Post reports that 55-year-old marketing executive Eric Wahl is the father of a third grader at the Bronx school; he was arrested in 2001 when he was caught making a sex date with an undercover cop posing as a 13-year-old girl online.
A parent at the school reportedly complained to the administration about Wahl, who was apparently caught "looking at their daughter at a birthday party," according to sources close to Wahl's ex-wife. School head Thomas Kelly wrote in an email last May:
I write to share that Horace Mann School has recently learned that a father of a second-grade student is listed on the publicly available Connecticut Sex Offender Register as the result of a 2002 conviction. As soon as the school learned of the listing of this parent on the CSOR, we met with the family and barred the father from coming to the school or to any school function at any time in the future.
Horace Mann has been the subject of increased scrutiny recently after it was revealed in 2012 that students at the school had suffered decades of alleged sexual abuse at the hands of certain teachers.
