The Port Authority police announced they made six arrests yesterday morning at a DWI checkpoint located at the Holland Tunnel. The drivers were hit with charges from DWI to heroin possession.
Two men were charged with DWI (one of those was also charged with refusing to take a Breathalyzer test) while one was charged with marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. Then there were three NY State residents who were found with hundreds of decks of heroin.
According to the Port Authority, Reuben Ogando, 21, Waldstein Francilus, 21, and Matthew Clar Vestal, 24, were found with 404 decks of heroin, 17 grams of heroin, 4.23 oz of marijuana, 5 oz. of Molly and prescription pills and hypodermic needles. They were charged with possession of controlled drug substance, possession of controlled drug substance with intent to distribute, possession wiith intent to distribute in School Zone, possession of Marijuana over 50 grams, possession of hypodermic needles and possession of drug paraphernalia
Rodrigues said, "Our DWI checkpoints are just one of the many operations our officers do to keep the traveling public safe."
