Hoboken, land of NY-rent-wary hipsters, Yo La Tengo, and Sinatra, will be getting a W Hotel. Actually, it's a W Hotel and Living Room - hotel rooms and 40 luxury condos - that will open in September 2006. Designed by Gwathmey Siegel & Associates, the W Hoboekn will have "a bar with amazing views of Manhattan, a destination restaurant, a 5,000 square-foot Bliss Spa and fitness facility plus over 11,000 square feet of meeting space," according to the NY Post. Cushman Wakefield, who is developing the project, says that Hoboken offers lower prices, but Gothamist is curious how low they actually will be - will Bliss spa services be that much cheaper, making New Yorkers flock to Hoboken for better deals? Other living-and-hotel W spaces are in Scottsdales, AZ, Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Dallas, and the concept may head to D.C., Las Vegas and Boston next.
