A livery cab driver who was standing by his vehicle was struck by a hit-and-run driver on the Upper East Side around 1:45 a.m. today. Police say they apprehended the driver on the west side of Manhattan later this morning.
The livery cab driver, 62, appears to have been standing behind his car—WABC 7 says he was getting out of his car—on Madison Avenue near 80th Street when he was sideswiped by the driver of a Grand Marquis. The driver fled the scene, and the victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital with a serious leg injury.
