A man was killed in a hit-and-run collision in the Bronx last night after he reportedly fell to the street after getting out of a livery cab and was then struck by another driver. EMS workers found 35-year-old unconscious and unresponsive shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Jerome Avenue and Macombs Road.
The unidentified man suffered trauma to his head and body, and rushed to Lincoln Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, police said. ABC reports that it was the man's livery cab driver who initially called 911.
Witnesses told CBS that the victim had been visibly intoxicated "or disoriented" in the moments before he was fatally struck. No arrests have been made in connection to the fatal crash, and the NYPD is currently searching for the driver of a white Chevrolet Impala, according to a police spokesperson.
