Oh hey, the weekend's here, and so's the weekend subway change news dump. There are a bunch of irritating changes on tap starting tonight, but not too many, thankfully—take a look:
1 trains will not run between 96th Street and Van Cortlandt Park-242 St in either direction, starting at 11:30 p.m. tonight and ending at 5 a.m. on Monday.
Brooklyn-bound 4 trains will run local between 125 St to Grand Central-42 St, from 11 p.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday, and again from 11 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday. 5 trains will not run in either direction between Eastchester-Dyre Av and E180 St all weekend long. Brooklyn-bound 6 trains will run on the express track from Pelham Bay Park to Parkchester, and northbound trains will run express from Hunts Point Av to Parkchester all weekend. The 6 will also run every 16 minutes between 3 Av-138 St and Pelham Bay Park from 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, with some northbound trains terminating at 3 Av-138 St.
A trains will not run between Ozone Park-Lefferts Blvd and Rockaway Blvd in either direction, starting at 11:45 p.m. tonight and ending at 5 a.m. Monday. They are also suspended between 168 St and Inwood-207 St, and Far Rockaway-Mott Av-bound trains will be skipping 88 St and Rockaway Blvd. Northbound A trains will run express from Canal St to 59 St-Columbus Circle, from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 6:30 a.m. Sunday, and again from 11:45 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday. Queens-bound A trains, meanwhile, will run local from 168 St to 59 St-Columbus Circle, starting at 12:01 on Saturday and ending at 5 a.m. on Monday. As for the C train, northbound trains will run express from Canal St to 59 St-Columbus, from 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The E will run local in Queens, starting at 12:30 a.m. Saturday and ending at 5 a.m. Monday.
Brooklyn-bound D trains will be running local from 145 St to 59 St-Columbus Circle, starting at 12:01 Saturday and ending at 5 a.m. Monday. Brooklyn-bound F trains are rerouted along the M track from Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av to 47-50 Sts Rock Ctr, starting at 11:15 p.m. tonight and ending at 5 a.m. on Monday. All weekend long Queens-bound F trains will run along the A track from Jay St-MetroTech to W 4 St-Wash Sq, starting at 11:45 p.m. tonight, and trains will run local in Queens in both directions, starting at 12:30 a.m. Saturday and ending at 5 a.m. Monday.
And last but not least, the R is extended to Jamaica-179 St, from 6:30 a.m. to 12 midnight on Saturday and Sunday.
Also, late-night travelers should note that the MTA will be upgrading MetroCard machines tonight. Machines will not be accepting credit cards or debit cards, starting at 1 a.m. and ending at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow morning. Please keep cash handy if you're planning on riding the subway late tonight, and don't let the bedbugs bite.
