Want to have a street where only blue AMC Gremlins can park every other Tuesday as long as they have an Armenian flag in the window? Well, if you owned your own street that dream could come true! There are around 900 privately owned streets in the city; oases where residents can guarantee themselves parking, or just set whatever parking rules they feel like. "It's like having your own garage," said Dorothy Kozalski of privately-owned Temple Court. But with great parking power comes great responsibility. Owners are responsible for paving the streets, as well as fixing the sewers below. One Bevy Place resident said, "There was really no benefit."
