There are more details about the alleged rape and imprisonment of a Wisconsin woman in a Brooklyn apartment. The Brooklyn Paper reports, "When police arrived, they found [suspect John] Hopkins and his victim as well as bolts on the ceiling, a rope on the floor, and a bag by the bed with a pair of handcuffs, a ball gag, a whip and several other sex toys, according to sources."

According to the 27-year-old victim, she contacted Hopkins, 45, through a Craigslist ad where he posted (the exact details are unclear), "Hopkins allegedly told her on the phone that if she cooked and cleaned for him, she could stay in his East Williamsburg apartment for free. He even offered to buy her a one-way plane ticket from Wisconsin to JFK Airport." But when she arrived to the apartment on Humboldt Street near Meserole Avenue on February 4, he allegedly told her she had to become his slave and call him "master"; she also said that he beat her, raped her, and chained her to the radiator. She admitted that Hopkins did let her free one day and she returned to the apartment.

The AP reports, "Authorities were called to the apartment Saturday after the woman's mother contacted authorities in Wisconsin. The woman apparently had broken free that day and contacted her mother, saying she was going to kill herself because she couldn't bear to be locked up anymore, police said. It's not clear why she didn't call 911 herself. Police arrived and found both the man and woman in the apartment." The woman was in the fetal position, shaking.

Hopkins, who has a prior arrest for a domestic violence assault (charges were dropped), is being held on $350,000 bail. The victim was treated for rectal hemorrhaging and bruising.
