Police are searching for the gunman suspected of fatally shooting one teen and seriously injuring three others on Saturday outside Bed-Stuy's Marcy Houses, just blocks away from the scene of a bustling basketball tournament.
18-year-old Mario Lopez was shot in the torso around 6:30 p.m., and pronounced dead upon arriving at Woodhull Hospital, police said. In addition to Lopez, a 13-year-old boy was shot in the neck and remains in critical condition, and a 14-year-old and 15-year-old were each shot in the leg. Both are in stable condition.
No arrests have been made. Police confirmed that the shooter was male, but have yet to release any further description of the suspect.
"I heard eight to 12 gunshots go off. I stopped everybody in the park from running out, 'til we heard silence," a witness told NY1. "Then you heard silence and hollering."
