Late Thursday night, the FDNY responded to a breach of "the slurry wall that separates the Hudson River from the WTC area with river water through the breach." Apparently the breached caused two to three feet of water to accumulate in one of the excavation sites nearby, but the Port Authority said no water entered the World Trade Center site. Crews pumped out the water from the affected area, on the west side of West Street near Vesey. The slurry wall also includes part of the old slurry wall from the original WTC.
