A Queens cemetery worker is in critical condition after plunging into a freshly dug grave while attempting to move a headstone.

The worker, a man in his 60s, fell into the open, 10-foot-deep grave at St. Johns Cemetery in Middle Village around 10:15 a.m. He'd been attempting to relocate a headstone in preparation for a funeral when he tripped and fell, FDNY officials told DNAinfo.

Emergency workers found the man lying in the grave on his back, and were able to remove him in roughly 30 minutes. He was taken to Elmhurst Hospital in critical condition, and sources told the Post he may have a broken shoulder, arm and leg.
