A 68-year-old woman who was arrested for stealing purses in Brooklyn eateries earlier this summer has died a day after pleading guilty to the charges against her.

Boerum Hill resident Hannah Harris was arrested in June after she took a 45-year-old woman's purse from Mullanes Bar & Grille in Fort Greene; she also stole a woman's purse from the Tea Lounge on Union Street in Park Slope that same month. Harris, who had been arrested at least 17 times for similar crimes, was hit with 13 charges that included multiple counts of grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.

She was behind bars for two months this summer because she couldn't make her $25K bail. She pleaded guilty to grand larceny on September 10th, and was found dead the next day in her apartment by a social worker. No criminality is suspected, but police are waiting for a medical examiner's report.
