Police say a 28-year-old woman was sexually assaulted early Wednesday morning in Greenwich Village. The victim, whose name hasn't been released, was making her way back to her apartment near West 4th Street and Sixth Avenue around 2:45 a.m. when she was approached by the unidentified assailant. Police sources tell the Post the victim had gotten out of a cab near her home, but had to sit down on a bench because she was intoxicated. The "good Samaritan" then allegedly offered to help her get to her building.

When they got to the apartment, he pushed his way inside with her, put her on a couch and raped her. The suspect is described as a middle-aged Asian male around 5-foot-9. Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.

Another woman who lives in the building told the Post that she too had encountered the perp in February when she spotted him following her home: “I turned around and shouted ‘What the f--k are you doing! Get the f--k away from me!’ ” she said. “He freaked me out. I was super aggressive with him, so he ran.’’
