Yesterday, Mayor Bloomberg and Governor Cuomo announced that gas rationing would begin, as a way to ease the Hurricane Sandy-induced gas crisis. Drivers with odds license plates can get gas on odd days, and even-number license plate-holders can get gas on even days. Today is an odd day—and how are New Yorkers dealing? Well, take a look at this snapshot from Twitter:

Police are at gas stations. The region's gas issue has been exacerbated by a number of issues: First, tankers couldn't get through the New York Harbor. Then some gas stations were without power to pump gasoline. The shortage has hampered some relief efforts as well as some victims' attempts to use generators.

One woman on Long Island was thrilled, telling Newsday, "At 8:47 a.m. I got on line. The line was cooking and at 9:10 a.m. I was done, saying, 'Thank you, thank you, thank you!'"
