From A Hudson Splash Landing To A Sad Rat: 2009 In Review
<p>On January 15, a US Airways Flight 1549 <a href="http://gothamist.com/2009/01/15/plane_crash_in_hudson.php">lost power and splash landed</a> safely in the Hudson River. With no major injuries, pilot <a href="http://gothamist.com/tags/chesleysullenberger">Chesley Sullenberger</a> was hailed as a hero as it turned out that a bird strike of <a href="http://gothamist.com/tags/canadageese">Canada geese</a>âleading the city to <a href="http://gothamist.com/2009/06/12/threat_to_aviation_safety_2000_city.php">kill off geese near airports</a>.</p>
