Here's one for the friends of the Karen Savillo. The Daily News reports that Savillo was critically injured when a drunk driver hit the car she was riding in early yesterday morning. Alexie Quiles's Ford SUV "veered across two lanes before sideswiping" Savillo's friend's Yukon on the Long Island Expressway in Maspeth. The Yukon crashed into a concrete barrier and 41 year old Savillo's head hit the window.
Quiles left his car, but two of Savillo's friend ran after him and tackled him. An off-duty cop who saw the crash scene stopped, identified himself as a cop and helped calm the situation. It turns out the 26 year old Quiles had a gun under the driver's seat and was carrying a bullet. He was charged with DWI and criminal possession of a weapon. Savillo is in critical condition at New York Hospital in Queens and her friends are doubtful she will recover.
