Former shock jock Anthony Cumia, of "Opie & Anthony" fame, has been arrested and charged with strangling his girlfriend.

A 26-year-old woman, whose name has not been released, posted a video on Periscope in which she accuses the 54-year-old Cumia of breaking her hand and hitting her: "Hi, I’m in Long Island, I got my hand broken, I’m waiting for police to come,” the woman says in the video, which was posted to a Periscope account run by "Dani Golightly." "I tried to call the police, but he turned the phone off," she added.

CBS adds that when cops arrived at Cumia's house in Rosyln Heights on Long Island Saturday morning, "the shock jock was strangling the 26-year-old victim."

Cumia, who was fired from his SiriusXM show last year due to a racist Twitter rant, has been charged with strangulation in the second degree, unlawful imprisonment in the second degree, assault in the third degree and criminal mischief in the third and fourth degree.

Cumia has released a statement through his lawyer denying the accusations: "Mr. Cumia emphatically denies the allegations brought against him, and is optimistic that when the truth comes out, he will be exonerated. This morning, he entered a plea of not guilty to all charges and was released without bail, and directed to appear back in court in January. Simply put, things are not always what they appear to be, and this case is a perfect example of that."
