Another summer weekend, another lengthy list of irksome subway changes that turns your A train into an unrecognizable creature traveling nowhere near your intended destination. Here's what we're up against this week:
The 2 train will run in two sections—between 241 St and 149 St-Grand Concourse, and between 149 St-Grand Concourse and Flatbush A—starting from 3:45 a.m. on Saturday and ending at 10 p.m. on Sunday. During that period, Manhattan-bound 2 trains will run express from E 180 St to 3 Av-149 St.
Brooklyn-bound 4 trains will run local from 125 St to Grand Central-42 St overnight, from 11 p.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday. There will be no 5 train service between E 180 St and Bowling Green from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, nor from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Sunday. And all weekend long, southbound 6 trains will run express from Pelham Bay Park to Parkchester; that starts at 11:45 p.m. tonight. All 6 trains will run every 14 minutes between Pelham Bay Park and Parkchester, from 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday; some northbound trains will terminate at Parkchester.
The 7 train WILL run between Manhattan and Queens this weekend, but Manhattan-bound trains will run express from Mets-Willets Point to 74 St-Broadway all weekend long, starting at 11:45 p.m. tonight.
The A train is suspended in both directions between Ozone Park-Lefferts Blvd and Rockaway Blvd all weekend, starting at 11:45 p.m. tonight. Howard Beach/Far Rockaway-bound trains will skip 88 Street. The E runs local in Queens from midnight Saturday until 5 a.m. on Monday.
Starting at midnight tonight and ending at 5 a.m. on Monday, F trains will also run local in Queens.
Following in the footsteps of the dreaded 7, N trains will not run between Times Sq-42 St and Queensboro Plaza, starting at 11:30 p.m. tonight and ending at 5 a.m. on Monday. The Q will run local during this time. The R train, meanwhile, reroutes along the D and M lines in both directions, between DeKalb Av and B’way-Lafayette St (D line) and line between B’way-Lafayette St and Queens Plaza (M line).
And of course, THERE'S NO G TRAIN between Nassau Ave and Court Square forever and ever and ever until September 2nd. Happy Friday!
