While we were getting a little rain early this morning, an hour north of the city it was cold enough for a bit of snow to fall. Beacon and Cold Spring both had about an inch of snow and a little bit more than that fell across the Hudson in Orange County. Here in the city the sun has come out and we'll warm to the upper 40s this afternoon.
Clear skies are only going to stick around for a day as a low pressure system develops to our south and moves up the coast tomorrow. This storm isn't expected to be a big weather-maker but the skies will cloud up tomorrow afternoon and rain is likely by the evening. Tuesday will be cooler with a high only in the mid 40s. The clouds are expected to stick around through Wednesday, which will also warm to the mid 40s.
Colder weather is poised to strike later in the week. A low pressure system will traipse from west to east across southern Canada over the next several days. Although that storm will pass way to our north, it will drag the first Arctic air mass of the season our way. Friday's high will only be in the upper 30s, something that hasn't happened since early March, and it looks like the temperature will drop below freezing on Saturday for the first time this season. The cold weather is expected to last through the weekend before rebounding early next week.
