The forecast is about to get rainy. An upper level disturbance passing overhead and moisture arriving from the southwest will give us a shot at some light rain this afternoon and evening. With the arriving moisture, the temperature will hold steady in the lower 40s through tomorrow morning.

Warmer weather and possibly sunny skies will return tomorrow. A small high pressure system should be enough to chase the humidity away and let the temperature warm to the mid 50s.

Enjoy the calm weather while you can as the forecast gets pretty cruddy for Sunday through Thursday. A strong upper level storm is expected to dip down from the Pacific NW to the Gulf Coast and up to the Mid-Atlantic states over the weekend. As it does it is going to drag tremendous amounts of tropical moisture our way.

Once that storm gets near New York it is going to be blocked from going anywhere by high pressure at the surface and a ridge of high pressure above. We could be in for a prolonged period of heavy rain and gusty northeasterly winds starting Sunday night through late Tuesday, and that combination could cause lots of coastal flooding.
