Winter doesn't realize it ended a few weeks ago, so it is sending us an annoying storm that may or may not give us a bit of snow tomorrow. A cold front passed through the city last night. Fast on the front's heels is a low pressure system that will move out of the Ohio Valley today and pass just south of the city and Long Island tomorrow. Before the storm arrives we'll have a cool, cloudy and windy Friday with a high in the lower 50s and a slight chance of rain in the afternoon.
Tomorrow's storm is about as close to a garbage time winter storm as you can get. We'll likely see rain and snow in the morning, changing over to rain in the afternoon, before changing back to snow in the evening. The ground is too warm for any significant accumulation in or near the city but places to our north and west could see a few inches of snow.
An easterly wind will keep the temperature to the mid 40s Saturday afternoon. The skies will clear late tomorrow night and the temperature is likely to drop below freezing again, so keep that lemon tree inside. Sunday looks to be sunny but brisk, with a high only in the upper 40s.
Enjoy that sun as it will quickly disappear with the approach of another storm early next week. At least the temperatures should moderate to only a couple degrees below the normal mid-April high of 60 degrees for much of the week.
