Summer heat returns with a vengeance this weekend. The high pressure system that has been centered west of us all week long will gradually move across Maryland and move offshore later today. The wind will start coming out of the southwest this afternoon and that should warm us to the mid to upper 80s. The humidity won't start rising until tonight so the air should still be comfortable today.

Then we get this:

Fun!

There is a slight chance, mainly in the Catskills and Mid-Hudson Valley, for scattered showers or thunderstorms on Saturday night. The forecast beyond Tuesday starts getting fuzzy but early indications are that a weak cold front will approach on Tuesday night, kicking off a round of showers and thunderstorms, but not much in the way of cooling. Daily highs late next week look to remain in the upper 80s to near 90.
