Even God wants to destroy La Guardia Airport. Earlier today, a lightning strike BURNED A HOLE in one of the airport's runways, and officials say flights are now delayed by about 1.5 hours.
That moment when tower calls and says there a hole on the runway from a lightning strike everyone is going around.

Indeed, the airport you can't get into is now an airport you can't get out of. The Port Authority tells us the lightning struck Runway 22 at 11:18 a.m., causing "some damage" to the runway. It reopened at 12:40 p.m., but the residual delays are aggressive.

We're also expecting more bad weather in the area this afternoon, which means you can probably expect further delays flying in or out of the airport, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. Never leave NYC.
