The Navy's ship has come in - as well as the ships for the Marine Corps and other military aircraft - today is the start of Fleet Week! It's a great time of the year, when people get to visit various ships and aircraft AND admire men and women in uniform. Ships are docked at Pier 90 in Manhattan and at Stapleton Pier in Staten Island and are open to the public. Here's a Fleet Week Schedule of Events (PDF) and some highlights:

- Starting tomorrow, the ship will be open for public visitation at Pier 90 (50th Street & 12th Avenue) from 8AM to 5PM.
- Also tomorrow: USMC Helicopter Raid Demonstration at 9AM in Queens (there's also face painting!) and the Navy Flight Simulator (F-18) on Stapleton Pier S.I., which is open between 8AM and 5PM.
- Friday, 8AM-4PM: Navy Seal Static & Challenge Display, Pier 90
- Friday, 9AM-4PM: Marine Day in Central Park; Central Park, 5th Avenue and 72nd Street
- Saturday, 8AM-5PM: Marine Day in Times Square, 7th Avenue & 46th Street
- Sunday: Various Memorial Day Parades in Greenpoint, Forrest Hills, Maspeth, and College Point
- Sunday, 6-7PM: Navy Band performs in Times Square

And even though the U.S.S. Intrepid has moved away for repairs, there will be an Intrepid Memorial Day ceremony at Central Park's Summerstage on Monday.
