Five NYPD officers were injured in the Bronx last night, when two cruisers collided with each other as they were responding to another officer's request for assistance.
The cruisers—one unmarked, according to ABC—crashed into each other around 10:20 p.m., near the corner of Bedford Park Boulevard and Briggs Avenue in the Norwood neighborhood of the Bronx. An NYPD spokesman could not confirm the nature of the call the officers were responding to.
According to ABC, the marked cruiser slammed into a pole after striking the unmarked cruiser.
All five officers suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the crash—three suffered back and neck injuries, one came away with a head laceration, and another may have broken his arm, NBC reports. They were all taken to Jacobi Hospital for treatment.
