Police were able to find a man who posed as a livery cab driver and allegedly groped a young woman he picked up, thanks to Find My iPhone. The police traced the man, Anjum Yaque, to his NJ home.
A 22-year-old woman had hailed a SUV (which had TLC plates; it's unclear if it is a TLC vehicle), on Saturday afternoon at Lexington near 31st Street in Manhattan. According to the Daily News, "The woman, who had been drinking, dozed off after asking to go to lower Manhattan. She woke up in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, with the driver grabbing her breasts and crotch through her clothes. She fled the vehicle at 63rd St. and Second Ave. and flagged down a passerby to call 911 about 5:45 p.m., police said."
The Post reports, "The brave victim fought off Yaque, who allegedly kept locking the vehicle and yanking her hands off the door handles as she tried to escape." The victim also reportedly yelled at the fleeing car, "My cell phone is in the car." Cops then used Find My iPhone to find Yaque in NJ.
Yaque, who is not a licensed TLC driver, was charged with forcible touching, unlawful imprisonment, assault and petit larceny. The victim's phone was also found.
