Ouch! Whiteface Mountain in the Adirondacks lived up to its name this weekend as three feet of snow fell on New York's fifth-highest peak. Although Saturday was fifteen degrees cooler than normal there was no snow here in the city. For today a high pressure system over Lake Erie will bring us one really pleasant day this Memorial Day weekend. Look for brilliantly sunny skies and an afternoon temperature topping out in the mid 70s, which is about normal for late May.

An approaching warm front promises summer weather later in the week but Tuesday needs to happen first. As the front gets closer we can expect thickening clouds in the morning followed by showers in the afternoon. No Manhattanhenge viewing for you! Tuesday's high will depend on timing of the clouds and rain so we're guessing somewhere between the upper 60s and mid 70s.

The rain, maybe even a thunderstorm, will still be here on Wednesday as the warm front pushes through the region. Wednesday's high will be in the upper 70s. Then, kablooie, the hot weather will be here. Highs Thursday, Friday and Saturday should reach the upper 80s as warm, moist, tropical air invades the area.
