Yesterday around 9 a.m., a former Marine was dropping his daughter off at the baby-sitter's house in Whitestone when he heard screams from a wooded area. It turned out a man was trying to rape a woman. At first, it was unclear what was going on, but Bryan Teichman told the Daily News, "When I saw him throw her over the guardrail, that's when I knew it wasn't play." So he jogged over and starting screaming, "Get the f--- off her!"

Police say that Teichman's screams scared the man enough into running away from Cross Island Parkway and 148th Street. Teichman said the man had a hand over the woman's mouth as he ripped her jacket. The suspect ran away along the highway before police arrived. It's believed the victim, 33, was targeted as she waited for her carpool.

Now police are looking for the suspect, who is described as being in his 50s—Teichman said he was a "clean-cut white man, 45 to 55 years-old, weighing about 220 pounds, with salt-and-pepper hair and a goatee."
