A 34-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man—reportedly an estranged couple—were discovered stabbed to death inside of a Bronx apartment building early Monday morning. The man allegedly stabbed the woman before using the knife on himself.
Officers responded to a call about an assault at 313 East 141st Street near 3rd Avenue in Mott Haven just before 8:00 a.m., according to a spokeswoman for the department. There, they discovered the female victim unconscious and unresponsive with multiple stab wounds to the torso, and the male victim, also unconscious, with a stab wound to the chest. Cops have since identified the woman as Nadia Saavedra, and confirmed that the apartment where she was found was her own.
The man, who has yet to be identified, was reportedly Saavedra's estranged husband. According to the News, he stabbed Saavedra multiple times before committing suicide. A spokeswoman for the NYPD confirmed that the dispute was domestic.
A knife was recovered at the scene, and the investigation is ongoing.
