After leading New York State Police on a harrowing car chase, a 20-year-old soldier who escaped military custody in central New York remains at large, and authorities say he should be considered armed and dangerous.

Russell Marcum was charged with stealing a $700 TV from a Richfield store, and after his parents bailed him out of jail, Marcum stole their white 2003 Chevy Avalanche (West Virginia plates 8PR-207) and led police on a chase through Otsego County, around 200 miles from New York City. Fox reports that Marcum is believed to have his service pistol with him, and "may be suicidal."

Private Marcum, who authorities say is 6'3" and weighs 180 lbs, was deployed with the 10th Mountain Division to Afghanistan earlier this year from January to March, and was stationed at Fort Drum. Anyone spotting Marcum is urged to call 911.
