If you've ever wondered how "they" get escalators up to the tops of skyscrapers, well, you've got a very wide-ranging curiosity. That's not a backhanded compliment, it's just that we always figured that when you need a skyscraper near the top of a tall building, you just build it up there. But when it comes to the still-under-construction 1 World Trade Center tower, they get their pre-fab escalators delivered by crane.

This photo, first posted on Reddit, appears to have been taken from 1 WTC. A source with connections to the WTC site tells us that an escalator was recently delivered. The Port Authority, which oversees the property, has not yet responded to questions about the escalator installation, but we'll update as soon as we hear back. For now we only assume somebody had the foresight to make sure they could actually fit that sucker through the doors.
