At least nine people were shot last night, including one fatally, in various shootings across Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens.
Police say that two teens were shot in Riverside Park near 158th Street just before 1 a.m. early Sunday morning. A 19-year-old man was shot in the leg and a 17-year-old woman was shot in the buttocks at a community party. Both teens, whose names have not been released, were taken to a nearby hospital and are expected to survive. It's unclear what sparked the shooting, and no suspects have been arrested.
Earlier in the evening, two people were injured when a gunman opened fire at a neighborhood party on Classon and Lafayette Avenues in Bed-Stuy just before 7:30 p.m. Saturday night. A 32-year-old woman was shot in the left leg and a 33-year-old man was struck in the right arm. Both victims were taken to Methodist Hospital in stable condition.
About an hour and a half later, 32-year-old Christopher Tennison was fatally shot in the head in front of his home on Atlantic Avenue and Eastern Parkway in Brownsville. The News reports the suspect was "thought to be a regular at an area homeless shelter."
A 22-year-old man was shot in the back outside the Howard Houses around 11 p.m. That victim was listed in stable condition at Brookdale Hospital early Sunday.
Close to 1 a.m., two 29-year-old men were both shot on Saratoga Avenue and Sumpter Street in Bedford-Stuyvesant. One victim was taken to Brookdale University Hospital with a gunshot wound to the arm, the other walked into Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center with several wounds. Both are expected to survive.
Finally, a 20-year-old man was shot in the leg after getting in an argument with someone on Springfield Boulevard and 112th Avenue in Queens just after 1 a.m. He was taken to Jamaica Hospital and is expected to survive.
No arrests have been made in any of the shootings yet.
