A woman was repeatedly stabbed during a home invasion robbery Sunday night in the East Village, on Avenue B near East 13th Street, NYPD officials said.

The suspect allegedly knocked on the 31-year-old woman's door at around 8:30 p.m., and forced his way into her apartment after she opened the door slightly, police said. He then stabbed the woman in the torso, arms, and hands, according to officials, before robbing her of $500 in cash.

The woman was discovered by a friend, who called the police at around 11 p.m., the NY Post reports. Police said that the victim was taken to a nearby hospital for injuries that are not considered life threatening.

The suspect was described to police as an 18-year-old of medium build and height, last seen wearing a red shirt and blue jeans.
