Two people are dead and several are injured following a 2-alarm fire in East Flatbush early this morning.

Lord Kinard, 76, and Octavoa Kinard, 71, died in the blaze, which fire officials say started at around 5:45 a.m. at 404 East 49th Street in East Flatbush. The FDNY says the blaze was likely electrical, and caused by a power strip on the building's first floor. There were no working fire alarms on the premises, according to authorities.

It took about a half hour for firefighters to extinguish the flames. A few firefighters were treated for minor injuries—it's unclear whether any other civilians were injured.
