Three elderly female pedestrians were left with serious injuries this morning after they were hit by a car on the Lower East Side.

According to the FDNY, the victims were crossing South Street near Rutgers Slip around 6:50 a.m. when they were hit by a 34-year-old woman driving a 2010 Volvo.

All three were taken to Bellevue Hospital, one with life threatening injuries and two with serious injuries. The latter victims, who are 60 and 67-years-old, are expected to survive. The driver remained at the scene, and police are investigating. An NYPD spokesperson said the women were walking in the crosswalk at the time of the incident.

In a separate collision the previous night, another pedestrian was struck by the driver of a 2008 Lincoln Town Car near Amsterdam Avenue and 116th Street around 9:30 p.m.

The victim, described by police as a man in his 20s, was taken to St. Luke's Hospital with severe head trauma, and is not expected to live. Surveillance footage from the scene shows the victim crossing the street against the light before he was struck.
