A parking attendant was crushed to death by a vehicle that fell from a lift in Lower Manhattan this morning. Police say that around 8:12 a.m., a male attendant in the garage at 21 Barclay Street, raised a vehicle up on a lift, and it "rolled off," pinning him on the ground. The victim, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. An NYPD spokesman said the incident "appeared to be an accident," and that no criminality was suspected. Icon Parking, the company that manages the garage, has not yet returned a request for comment.

NBC spoke to Cliff Salvador, a regular customer of the garage, who said that he knew the attendant and called him the "nicest guy in the world."

We'll update when more information becomes available.
