Yesterday's parade celebrating the 189th Anniversary of the Greek Declaration of Independence was missing one key marcher—Mayor Bloomberg! Though one spokesman told the Post, "the mayor doesn't go to every parade," he usually makes an appearance at marches going down Fifth Avenue, like the Greek Independence Day parade has been doing since 1951. Bloomberg attended last year's parade and local Greeks aren't taking the snub lightly: "When you're elected three times, sometimes you take people for granted. I guess it's not an election year," said Astoria resident Harry Kalas. A spokesman said the Mayor did host a breakfast at Gracie Mansion in honor of the holiday last week. Another notable parade no-show: Governor Paterson.
