Disability Studies is an emerging academic field that explores disability through a variety of lenses, including the social sciences, public policy, medicine, and the arts. The CUNY School of Professional Studies (CUNY SPS) offers Disability Studies programs on the bachelor’s, master’s and graduate certificate levels, with courses held both online and in-person.

The Disability Studies programs provide a “person-centered” approach to the study of disability; they promote a new way of thinking about the field, and will equip you with the skills to improve the lives of people with disabilities. You’ll have the opportunity to examine key areas of disability, such intellectual/development disabilities, the Autism Spectrum Disorder, and mental/behavioral health. Additionally, the programs prepare you to further or begin a career working with or for people with a wide range of disabilities as a service provision employee, disability advocate, researcher and more.

CUNY SPS welcomes you to learn more about their Disability Studies programs by attending an information session on Wednesday, October 2nd at 6pm EDT either in-person at 365 Fifth Ave, Room C201/2, in NYC, or online. CUNY SPS is happy to answer any questions that you may have about these programs or the upcoming information session. Contact them at information@sps.cuny.edu or 212.652.CUNY.
